I have been blessed to be living in the north Ireland for over a year. Blessed is the only word that could possibly beginning to sum up my experience. But, as a much as a hate to think about, my visa will be expiring in the near future and I will soon be on a plane back to the States. Even as I typed the previous sentence I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes.
It may seems like a peculiar time to begin a blog...mere months before this chapter in my life comes to a close (cue the waterworks!). But, it's not. The purpose of this blog is to give me a outlet to remember and reflect upon this past year and a half. Since moving to Ireland I've experienced every emotion under the sun, celebrated many successes and achievements, faced challenges and set-backs, and sought out opportunities for personal growth and development. Through writing my story, I hope to begin to process and internalize my experience.
While this blog is an opportunity for me to piece together my thoughts, I also hope that it will prove beneficial to my readers. I hope that others can learn from my experiences - the experiences of living in a foreign country, of embracing another culture, of developing a youth and young adult ministry program, of working with a community emerging from conflict, of traveling, of living in an intentional ecumenical community, of discovering love, and the list goes on and on.
So, I invite you to join me over the next few weeks and months as I remember, reflect, process, share and ultimately cherish my Irish adventure.
